After a year like this then who wouldn’t say yes to a relaxing massage? I’ve never experienced a hot stone massage and whilst perhaps it would have been more theatrical to end my 50 challenges with some wild, outdoor adventure experience I am content that I try this new thing and soak up some soothing relaxation. Because I’m worth it!
My research says “during a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat…hot massage stones are heated to between 130 and 145 degrees.” That is quite hot. I’m channeling hot water bottle feelings.
With the massage oil the stones have an incredibly silky feel to them, and the heat is wonderful feeling. There were about 20 stones of varying size for use on different part of the body, with the largest ones for use up and down my back. The stones are also just rested on the body.
I’d do this again, the stones create a unique feeling. Massages don’t come particularly cheap but as a treat I thought this was money well spent, I left feeling relaxed with muscles soothed.
…and that was fifty challenges complete! I am still thinking over all that I have done this year and will post again with a summary when I have put it together.
